Our alumni are actively involved in all aspects of the community and we look forward to helping promote the good work of their non-profit organizations through this monthly clearinghouse.

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR NEW DENTAL CLINIC

Make plans to attend a concert for the benefit of the free dental clinic currently being constructed inside Christ Lutheran Church to serve the Allison Hill Community.  Amanda Silliker, mezzo-soprano with Svetlana Rodionova, pianist, will perform on Sunday, February 28th, 2:00 pm at the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 North 23rd Street, Camp Hill. A reception will follow the concert and a free will offering will be accepted. All funds will go towards the free dental clinic set to open this Spring.

ESTAMOS UNIDOS DE PENNSYLVANIA ANNUAL DINNER

The 3rd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser dinner will be held on March 4th from 6-9pm at the Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. Dr. Hector Ortiz will be recognized for his initiatives in making Dauphin County a better place to live along with several area business supporters who have brought change to their organizations. MS SOCIETY SEEKS PARTICIPANTS AND VOLUNTEERS

The NMSS seeks to mobilize people and resources to drive research to find a cure for multiple sclerosis and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. Join the Movement as participants or volunteers at the following upcoming events:

  bike MS-Gettysburg on June 26th & Millersville on July 24-25th
  MS Polo 2010-Hempt Polo Field, Mechanicsburg on August 13-14th
  "What a Difference a Day Makes"-pilot project for volunteers going into client's homes with MS and meeting their needs/On going opportunity

WOMEN FOR DIVERSITY AWARD DINNER
A local appearance on March 2nd by the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. highlights Penn State Harrisburg's five-installment 2010 diversity lecture series.  Bernice A. King, the youngest daughter of Rev. King and the late Coretta Scott King, will highlight the second annual Women for Diversity Award Dinner at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. HERITAGE BREAKFAST CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The 10th Annual Heritage Breakfast will be held on March 5th at the Harrisburg Hilton with doors opening at 7:30 am. The program begins at 8:00 am, followed by business networking at 9:30 am. 2010 TRIBUTE TO WOMEN OF EXCELLENCE INCLUDES LHA ALUMS
Five LHA graduates are among the 2010 Tribute to Women of Excellence honorees. INSTITUTE FOR CULTURAL PARTNERSHIPS TO HOLD DINNER
The ICP will hold its 5th Annual Champions of Diversity Award Dinner on Wednesday, April 21st at the Hilton Harrisburg. Reception begins at 5:30 pm, followed by dinner at 6:30 pm.
The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Champions of Diversity Awards, for which nominations are currently being accepted. Salvation Army of Harrisburg Needs Volunteers for Programs

After School Program

Breakfast Feeding Program
The Salvation Army in Harrisburg is seeking volunteers to assist us with our Breakfast Feeding Program. Individuals are needed to help prepare, serve, and clean up in our soup kitchen. Breakfast is served daily from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Interested individuals can contact Trinette Ream at 233-6755 ext. 32.

Vision of Hope Seeks Special Events Committee Members
Vision of Hope seeks volunteers for a Special Events Committee willing to plan their annual gala and silent auction. Responsibilities include contacting prospective sponsors and gathering silent auction items. Vision of Hope is a project of PCAR, which focuses on raising funds to eliminate child sexual abuse. ENVIRONMENTAL GROUP SEEKS HARRISBURG AREA BOARD MEMBER
Stewards of the Lower Susquehanna, Inc. (SOLS) is dedicated to improving the ecological health of the Lower Susquehanna River Watershed and the Chesapeake Bay. SOLS is a grassroots organization that seeks to promote high water quality, wise and sustainable use of all aquatic resources and preservation of aesthetic value of our waterways through education, research, advocacy and insistence upon compliance with the law. Shalom House, Inc., is a non-denominational emergency shelter based in South Allison Hill serving women and women with children. Its Board of Directors is seeking to fill three vacant seats. Dauphin County Library System Seeks Library Trustees
The DCLS aims to build an effective working board of leaders for 2010 that represent the population of Dauphin County. Preference for both appointed and elected members will be given to committed citizens that will be actively involved in furthering the mission and vision of the DCLS. Minimum requirements include being a legal resident of Dauphin County during the term, but not a resident of Derry Township or the Borough of Middletown, represent the library, attend meetings, contribute, avoid conflicts of interest, and participate in library activities. Individuals with expertise in technology, entrepreneurship, accounting, real estate, communication or visioning are especially needed. Friends of Wildwood Park Looking for Board Members
The Friends of Wildwood Park are looking for interested individuals to join their active Board of Directors. Work would include attending approximately 12 board early evening meetings per year, membership in the Friends, and developing, attending and volunteering at a series of special events and fundraising activities throughout the year. This is a working board that provides funds for environmental education at Wildwood.
