On a monthly basis, Leadership Harrisburg Area (LHA) provides its alumni an opportunity to promote both the activities and needs of the non-profits with which they are actively involved. Our alumni are actively involved in all aspects of the community and we look forward to helping promote the good work of their non-profit organizations through this monthly clearinghouse.

2008 Executive Leadership Series
ELS is a leadership program that presents our region from an executive's vantage point. In a comprehensive five-session program, ELS participants gain a better understanding of the region and what keeps it going and growing. ELS is geared towards men and women in both the for-profit and non-profit sector who want to become better acquainted with the people, places, issues and opportunities in the Capital Region. This year's participants have a unique opportunity to hear international speaker, Kyle MacDonald, who taded a red paperclip for a house in 2006. All sessions held on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in venues throughout the Capital Region unless otherwise noted.

Library Latino Corner Project

Latino Hispanic Professional Association, Dauphin County Commissioners and the county Library System, will host a fundraiser: August 7, 5:30 pm, Fiesta Mexico, 3957 Paxton St., Harrisburg, with the Jeffrey Haste, as guest speaker. Golf Tournament to Benefit CONTACT Helpline

Join CONTACT Helpline for the 6th Annual Golf Tournament on August 14th at Felicita Golf Course. The driving range opens at 12:30 followed by a 1:30 pm shotgun start. $80 early registration ends August 8th, Regular registration is $85 per golfer. A catered dinner follows play. This year's event features a Hawaiian theme, complimentary beverages, prizes and the New Hooter Girls.

Event to Support Dress for Success South Central PA

Join the Central PA Association of Femail Executives, CPAFE, in supporting Dress for Success South Central PA by reserving your seats for Girl's Night ~ The Musical. The evening event is a fun musical playing at the Whitaker Center on Tuesday, August 12th, 6:30 pm. Tickets are $60 and includes support for Dress for Success, plus a pre-event dessert reception, cash bar, mingling with the actors, a silent auction of 30 dazzling vintage jewelry pieces and the best seats in the house. One Heart Away - Second Annual Golf Event

PA Women's Legislative Exchange

The Pennsylvania Women's Legislative Exchange (WLX) encourages women to take part in the legislative process. All WLX meetings are held at Doc Holliday's in New Cumberland at 6:15 pm, the fourth Tuesday of each month, except July and August. For over 39 years, WLX serves as a networking forum for women who strive to expand their understanding of existing legislation in a non-partisan climate. While it does not lobby or take a position, it updates its membership of legislation and court decisions that impact women and families.

Volunteers Needed for the MS Polo Event

Volunteer opportunities abound with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society MS Polo Event on August 8 & 9. Be part of this unique and fun event ot end MS! Volunteers are needed to help with the following Polo activities:
- Polo Sponsors Reception on Friday, August 8 - Volunteers are needed from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM
- Polo Match on Saturday, August 9 - Gates open at NOON. Volunteers needed beginning at 10:00 AM through 5:30 PM

Susquehanna Art Museum Seeks Volunteers

Volunteering at SAM is easy and lots of fun! Here are just a few of the areas where your help is needed most: Main Gallery Docent: Warmly welcome museum guests, provide general information to the public, assist professional staff with administrative duties (mailings, etc), and take time to enjoy the artwork in our galleries! (Training - ongoing; Commitment: 3-5 hours once or twice a month)
VanGo! Docent: Join our award-winning mobile art museum outreach program as a visiting educator or docent. (Training - scheduled; Commitment: Days as needed for local school visits, festivals and other community events)
Special Events Assistant: Assist our staff with hosting special events such as openings, lectures, workshops, fundraisers, etc. (Commitment: Flexible) In addition, SAM offers internship opportunities for high school, college and graduate level students that provide a behind- the-scenes look at the organizational structure of an exciting non-profit.
