karen_shustackIt's been 10 years (really?) since I began my personal journey with Leadership Harrisburg Area.  Back in 1999, I was honored to be sponsored by my employer and selected by LHA to be a part of the 1999 Community Leadership Series class.  I found my journey did not end with the acceptance of my graduation diploma on that sunny day in May at the Governor's Mansion.  I would have never imagined that I would be racking my brain on how to convey the importance of this organization, as representing the thoughts of a newly elected Chair of the Board of Directors.

I join one of over 1000 graduates of both the Community Leadership and Executive Leadership series.  What a force to be reckoned with when mobilized in this community!

When you hear some people talk about needing leaders now more than ever or questioning where are the positive role modes for our emerging leaders from all backgrounds, ages and abilities-the answer is simple: WE ARE HERE!  I'm confident you have a connection with Leadership Harrisburg Area directly or by experiencing the leadership mark we have made on the educational, governmental and non-profits we serve.

Over the course of the next year, I look forward to updating you on efforts made to strengthen our community.  Our outreach has expanded and evolved in the 10 years since I started this journey that began with a challenge at graduation of the Class of '99, which was "Now what?"  Whether you are looking to newly connected with LHA or wanting to reconnect, won't you join me as we answer that same challenge?  There really is no time like now.

Sincerely,

Karen Shustack, '99

We invite corporations to invest in their workforces by sending an employee through this program and yielding a stronger, more skilled, experienced, and networked employee as a result. We invite community groups and non-profit organizations to send representatives through this program so that they can connect with the people and programs that will support their missions.
