The Community Leadership Series, LHA’s core program established in 1987, is a 9-month, 120 hour educational & experiential course that explores these “systems” that affect the quality of life in the Capital Region.

- Justice & Public Safety
The Community Leadership Series also overview the history of the Capital Region, demographics, challenges, and opportunities.
In addition to attending an overnight retreat and monthly sessions, participants are required to volunteer on a pre-screened and selected Team Project for a local nonprofit organization with the objective to learn new, and strengthen existing, skill sets that will improve both job performance as well as future community service efforts.
The Community Leadership Series accepts applications from January through May of each new year. Forty participants, on average, are selected through a competitive process and notified of their acceptance in June. The course runs annually from September through May.
