The Non Profit community depends on volunteers for many reasons including skill, knowledge and expertise; connections, insights, and great ideas!  If you can add any of these things to a local organization, please get involved to make the Capital Region a better place!  As our non profit, service, and arts communities thrive, the multiplier effect raises the quality of life for all residents!

The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank needs volunteers to help solve the problem of hunger in America… Become a Hunger Study Volunteer!  Travel in a group to different sites around Central PA from May 2013 through August 2013 and interview clients and collect data. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is looking for people with Human Resources expertise to serve on their Human Resources committee. This committee provides input to the Food Bank on policies, compensation, staff development and benefits. The Food Bank staff is responsible for implementation, but needs help in establishing strategies and having proper review and oversight as part of its governance. The Nativity School of Harrisburg is accepting nominations to its Board of Directors.  The Nativity School is a private, non-denominational middle school for inner city boys helping them break the cycle of poverty and cultivate character and determination.   Since 2001, 100 graduates have gone on to attend local private and public schools from The Nativity School.  The Board of Directors meets once a month.  If you are interested in learning more about the nomination process, please contact Sherri Phillips, a graduate from LHA’s Inaugural Class of 1987, at sphillips99@comcast.net.
